100-FOOT LADDER TRUCK
The Fire Department’s 100-foot ladder truck meets the city’s unique needs. This aerial apparatus is not just an elevated water tower. In fact, the 100 foot ladder truck is designed to carry the tools needed to perform all the specialized tasks required of the Fire Department. The aerial apparatus carries a pump, water tank, hose, 195 feet of ground ladders, pike poles, ventilation, salvage, and rescue equipment, a diesel powered 10,000 watt on-board generator, and additional specialized equipment for use in emergency situations. Having the right tools for the job makes a profound difference in the speed and accuracy of our performance. Given our community’s unique character and geography, with its numerous beach-side cliffs, hilltop-houses, canyons, and narrow streets, having a truck of this nature with the capabilities to perform a wide range of public safety functions is essential.
