Chief Mark Muir is a native of San Diego who has 30 years of fire service commitment. A career Fire Service person, Chief Muir has promoted his way through the ranks to his current position as Fire chief. He has 22 years of management experience in the fire service. During his tenure as a Fire Chief Officer, Muir has supervised prevention, emergency medical service, training, operations and suppression activities. These activities included the successful development and implementation of many programs that are being utilized today and have enhanced the organization's service to the community.
Chief Muir currently holds numerous certificates including a State of California Master Instructor certification, as well as an Associates Degree in Fire Science and a Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management and Planning. He has also received professional fire management certifications from the National Fire Academy and the California State Fire Academy. He is also working towards a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
